A contemporary folk revival event.

May Day has been a long held tradition in English folklore and is celebrated in various forms at the start of summer by many European cultures.  Evercreech Jack in the Green is a contemporary folk revival event produced by The Old Stores Studio in Evercreech, Somerset for everyone.  The main focus for the event is renewal; inclusivity and community and for people to come together to banish winter and welcome the spirit of summer -

the central theme is ‘EVERYONE IS WELCOME’!

Evercreech Jack in the Green includes flower crown making , creative workshops and the dressing of a 10ft wicker ‘Jack’ in flowers and foliage. The Jack is accompanied by followers, musicians, and our female icon the Spirit of Summer in a musical procession and culminates with a community picnic at The Bullzini Circus Field.

This annual Maytime event is created for the local community of all ages and supports local business, promoting and supporting the arts in the area. It is a focus of positivity to celebrate the changing of the seasons and bring the community together on or around May Day. We hope you can join us!
